The Right Way to Oil a Pump Truck
What Sort of Oil do you Need?
Pallet jacks are simple tools that aid in the loading and transportation of wooden pallets, hence the name. They operate with the assistance of a hydraulic system, which provides the pressure required to lift the fork.
Because its basic operating principle is based on hydraulic fluid pressure, it is necessary to inspect the hydraulic fluid and ensure that it is of the recommended type/viscosity/density, etc.A hydraulic oil with a viscosity of 30cSt at 40°C is recommended for use with a pallet truck/jack. If a different viscosity oil is used, it may be difficult to pump the pallet truck's handle.
The Right Steps
To begin, use the lever in the handle to lower the pallet jack's forks.
Remove the fill plug from the reservoir sides if the hydraulic pump unit (located at the base of the handle) and the washer are present.
Check the hydraulic fluid level. The oil should be close to the fill plug opening. While checking, take note of the colour of the oil; if it appears milky, the oil is contaminated. If this is the case, please drain the reservoir and refill it with new oil.
- Fill the hydraulic reservoir's fill hole with hydraulic fluid. Please ensure that the fluid level is checked while filling.
Remember to bleed out any air trapped in the pump reservoir by pumping the jack handle 10 to 15 times.
Close after filling the fluid to the desired level by repeating steps 4 and 5.
Replace the fill plug and washer in their original locations. Wipe away any excess fluid with an old cloth.
Before using the pallet jack again, make sure everything is tightly screwed together.
TIPS TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR PALLET TRUCK
CHECK and refill your pallet truck's oil
- REGULARLY lubricate the pallet truck.
- PROTECT your pallet truck's wheels
- CHECK the chain on a regular basis for correct positioning.
- If the pallet truck can no longer pump or lower its forks, adjust the lowering valve.
- Use your pallet truck safely and correctly.
